North Dakota has on record 17 species of silphid beetles, seven in the subfamily silphinae, and 10 in the subfamily Nicrophorinae, all of which are fairly easy to identify with the help of short pictorial keys in the Carrion beetles of North Dakota, but G. Hanley and D. Cuthrell, 2008. This publication also includes all other North American species.
